Lists of Bank and required documents for LTR Visa holder to open a bank account in Thailand as follows;

Before opening a bank account with Bangkok Bank, the LTR Visa holder must contact the LTR Visa Unit via email at ltr@boi.go.th at least 4 days in advance.

The LTR Visa holder should provide the name of the Bangkok Bank branch they wish to visit, along with their preferred specific date and time for opening the account.

Please note that the required documentation for opening a bank account with Bangkok Bank may vary depending on the customer's profile and the intended purpose of the account, in accordance with Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) regulations. Bangkok Bank will review and confirm the required documents on a case-by-case basis for LTR Visa holders.

In general practice, LTR Visa holders under categories “W”, “P”, “T”, and “O” typically open a bank account for retirement purposes and/or daily living expenses in Thailand.

To open a bank account, applicants must submit all supporting documents by email in advance and bring the original documents when visiting the bank branch.

Required documents

1. Valid passport (original)
2. Valid Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa
3. Certified Consideration Certificate for foreigners holding a Long-Term Resident Visa, issued by the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI)
4. Identification document issued by either the Thai government or the applicant’s home government (e.g. Certificate of Identity or Driving Licence)

In addition, applicants must provide one (1) credible supporting document to substantiate the stated purpose of opening the account. Examples of acceptable supporting documents may be provided separately depending on the purpose of the account.

Important Notes

• Hotel addresses and P.O. Box addresses are not acceptable.
• A contact telephone number is required, together with a tax invoice issued by the customer’s mobile service provider.
• Documents/letters from the Immigration Office (TM6 or TM30) are not accepted for account opening.
• In addition, customers are requested to open an account at a branch located in the same city as their registered residence.

Please note that account opening is subject to the branch manager’s discretion. Therefore, they recommend that LTR Visa members visit a branch to discuss their circumstances directly, as they are unable to review or pre-approve documents via this email channel.

In order to open a bank account with Kasikorn Bank, the LTR Visa holder can go to any branches of Kasikorn Bank in Thailand with the required documents as follows:

1. The LTR Visa holder must provide either one of travel documents as follows:

1. Passport
2. Travel Document for Aliens (T.D.)
3. Certificated of Identity (CI)
4. Temporary Passport

2. The LTR Visa holder must provide either one of identification documents as follows:

1. Stamp of Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa
2. Document issued by Thai government agencies, for example, House registration, driver's license, civil servant/state enterprise card, etc.
3. Identification document issued by the country of your nationality, for example, ID card, driver’s license, house registration, etc.

3. The LTR Visa holder must provide LTR Visa confirmation documents as follows:

1. Letter of Endorsement for LTR Visa
2. Please note: For the bank account application, the bank only accept the address + contact details in Thailand, which the customer must be able to provide the evident accordingly.
